My name is Breanne Trusk and I started my journey as a "paper florist" in the summer of 2013. I was getting married in October and I had decided to make my own flowers. I love fresh flowers, but for such a momentous occasion I wanted to be able to keep my bouquet and have it look just as lovely 10 years from now. Maybe my own future children would use it in THEIR weddings? Martha Stewart had some great advice on making coffee filter flowers so that was the direction I took, while adding in some french beaded flowers as well. I love my bouquet and it sits on my desk in my studio, a constant reminder of where I began and the fabulous man who is helping me to create my own business as an artist.
Alas though, the bouquet is no longer as lovely as the day I got married. The petals are wrinkled and faded as the coffee filters were just too flimsy. I started seeking out better materials and developing better techniques for a more stable flower. Cardstock turned out to be a fabulous choice with a rich variety of colors to choose from. It was also sturdy enough to be handpainted for any number of detailed color combinations. As my hobby grew into an art I was commissioned by friends and family to make special arrangements for homecoming, mother's day and other moments people found special and wanted to be remembered. I even had the privilege to make my friend's bridal bouquet along with her bridesmaid's bouquets.
I'm proud of my style and the new creations that emerge from my studio on a regular basis. And I'm excited. I'm excited for the limitless growth I see for my art and this business. I'm a mother now and being home with my family is the most important thing. Having a business which allows for family time and self expression is a dream come true. And maybe some day I'll get little E in on the action too! ;-)
